The Goshen First Aid Crew was formed in August of 1966 with 16 members of which 3 members were women Today the crew has 23 senior members of which eight are women. The crew has two junior members as well.
In July of 1973 the crew broke ground for our present squad building which was completely paid for when the last nail was driven. The crew had saved and held fundraising projects for seven in order to build the much needed headquarters.
Our crew started out with an old Cadillac hearse and now has two modern ALS ambulances and a crash truck.
Prior to the organization of our crew, the only rescue services in the area was provided by the Sensabaugh-Zimmerman Funeral Home. In case of wrecks it was necessary to wait hours for the hearse or a rescue squad from the nearby cities of Lexington or Staunton.
The late Millard L. Burke and the late Mrs. Burke were instrumental in the organization of The Goshen First Aid Crew
The Goshen First Aid Crew had the first AED shock in the CSEMS region done by life member Jeff Grimm in Millboro, Virginia.
